lyrics

CHORUS: Step back to those times/ Its truly not so long/ You can meet me there/Relive the whole day long/ I wouldn’t change a thing/ In case I got it wrong/ And if you’re wondering/ The fabric of this song/ Its memories of you and/ All that you have done/ Forgive me but its true/ I would not have become/ The man I am today/ Without you/ Thanks for yesterday/I love you.

VERSE ONE: Given the chance I would relive my days and hours/ In city the sounds on the 8th floor of the block tower/ I remember cold days, thick coats, scarves, but no snow/ December haze shields displays of the skyline in my window/ Early struggles of communication/ Was the everyday order in this short duration/ It taught perseverance, but mostly patience/ Especially for a family out of touch with relations/ Foreign land, new customs, new speech/ To understand was at times out of reach/ But my mother even found time to teach/ What was supposed to be my mother tongue/ The process of mixture had indeed begun/ Those years were fundamental/ In the formative creation of my mental state and all thats normative and consequential/ From these lyrics to the instrumental/ My hearing even early in existence/ Showed Gods call as nothing short of persistent and I was listening/ Afforded with knowledge of Jesus, the cross, the Victory, the Loss/ Happiness, and the root of joy and its source/ I can’t imagine my life now without those times/ When a third culture outlook consumes my mind/ Even given the chance I wouldn’t touch my childhood/ Cause really I lived everything that does a child good/ Loving parents, food and some firewood/ Not to mention God, though I definitely should.

VERSE TWO: The truth is any change would be superficial/ If I was to rearrange my life’s tissue/ How could I complain/? There’s really no issue/ How could I forget?/ Every day is when I miss you/ In reality I don’t want to leave/ The security that helped me achieve/ Stability and all the things that you need/ To grow, out with the old/ Cause I guess I need to grow/ Up is the next step/ Although it seems my mind’s inept/ To understand the concept/ Its a new phase/ But I’ll never forget when back in the days/ We used to play ball on the brick floor/ With the puddles always in the same place/ I used to dream all day of Damaris’ face/ But that’s days gone by/ I remember church when Nigel always cried/ Nick with his big watch, thats before he died/ I remember saturdays with the crew/ By crew I mean the Tamara, Maria, Rafa the few/ I remember Nathan, Marcus, Joao/ Were the close ones that stood out from the crowd/ Together we laughed, we wept, but you never left/ It was these times that assured that I kept in step/ To my family, you never failed/ Together we never lost sight of the trail/To my true friends, you were always there/ Always someone to talk to/ I know you care/ If I was gonna change something, my life and such/ Actually, come to think of it I wouldn’t change much.
